Jennifer Lopez shared a Father's Day letter Sunday in which she wrote about her appreciation for her dad and her respect for fiance Ben Affleck, for his relationship with both his and her children.

"As I have grown and become a parent myself and learned more about myself and others, I see the importance and profundity of a great father in one's life and how the absence of it can cause deep lifelong wounds," the singer began in her note, which she shared in her newsletter.

Lopez then shared a number of thank-yous for her father, David.

"Thank you for being gentle with me, for being kind and always supportive of my dreams and my ideas," she wrote. "Thank you for not making me feel weird or alienated, but seen and sympathized with and understood when the 'fame game' came to town."

The "Marry Me" actress then recalled a conversation with her father on one of his previous birthdays when she said she was "struggling" and he noticed, despite her attempts to hide it.

"'I want you to know... there is one person in the world who doesn’t want anything from you, they just want to love you and be there for you... you have that. It’s me [...]," she reremembered him saying.

She then said her father had taught her the "most important thing in life any parent could show anyone," which she said is "to be a good person."

Writing next about Affleck, Lopez detailed how much she admires her fiance for his role as a supportive father in both his children's life and with her twins, Max and Emme.

"I have had a front row seat to watching how you father for over a year now and I have never seen a more consistent, loving and selfless father," she wrote.

"And its not just to your own kids," she continued, "but also without obligation to mine as well. You show up and put them first always."

She said Affleck is "affectionate and engaged in every moment" shared with the kids and called it "one of the most beautiful things" she's ever seen.

Lopez and Affleck first began dating in 2002, becoming engaged in November 2002, before eventually breaking things off in 2004. The couple reunited in 2021, announcing their second engagement in April this year, 20 years after the first.

Lopez shares her two children, fraternal twins Max and Emme, with ex-husband and fellow singer Marc Anthony, while Affleck shares three children, Violet, Seraphina and Samuel, with ex-wife and actress Jennifer Garner.
